come sail away

What if your hotel room was on the water in the middle of the Caribbean Sea and could take you to a new location everyday?

No, I'm not talking about a cruise ship with thousands of people on it.  I'm taking about just you and a small group of your favorite people.  You see all the celebrities chartering yachts, megayachts, super yachts, etc., island hopping with their friends.  Who doesn't want to live that life...  Well, you can!

Maybe a M/Y isn't in your price range, it's not in mine either, but a yacht with room for up to 10 people is totally within reach.  There are many charter companies out there, big and small, Moorings, Sunsail, and Marine Max Vacations are some of the larger ones.  Then you also have Owner-operated charter boats as well.  The larger companies have locations around the world and also offer owner programs.  But the great thing about these opportunities is it gives you a new way to adventure and see the world.

I grew up sailing and on powerboats, part of growing up on land surrounding by the ocean.  So living on a boat, pretending I'm Moana, not such a far fetched idea.  But what if you don't know the first thing about sailing or boating...  Don't worry, you can still take one of these awesome vacations.

For companies like Sunsail and TMM Yacht Charters, you can hire a skipper/captain for a nominal fee as well as hire a chef. Owner-operated charters include a skipper/captain in the cost and sometimes they may also include a cook and/or host.  You can find charter boat rentals as low as $4,500 for 7 nights for 6-8 people depending on the time of year.  Break that down into a person cost and you are looking at $575-750/per person.  That's less money than you would spend on a resort in one location but now you get to see anything within your line of sight and beyond.

So, have I got you thinking about your next vacation on the water?  Think about walking up to an amazing view of islands, clear water and a new view every day.

I'll be sharing some of my past adventures over the next few months as well as our itineraries and hopefully you all can share your stories and favorites places you've been.
