the beginning of it all

I was lucky enough to be raised in a melting pot.  See, I'm adopted.  I've known for as long as I remember, I don't know if I figured it out or my parents told me, but either way, I never felt like I didn't belong.  Now, I definitely didn't look like I belonged...  My father was first generation Italian-American and my mother, well that's a story in itself.  My mother is a Bajan (Barbadian - for those who don't know), an english one to be exact.  So this South Korean looks a little odd when put with those two.  But I wouldn't change it for anything.  This is where my love for travel started.

My first plane ride was from South Korea all the way to New York at 3.5 months old.  Sure I don't remember it, but it was my very first trip and somewhere I'm sure my mother has my "wings" as a keepsake. As the years went by, we'd spend our summers in Barbados every year.  I didn't realize until my teenage years that not everyone gets to go live on a tropical island during the summer. I still have family on the island and as I've gotten older I spend less time there but I will always be a Bajan at heart and it will always be my second home.  Our travels when I was a kid didn't stop there, of course we did some road trips, did the usually touristy trips (i.e. Disney, Universal, etc) and even went across the border to Canada.  So somewhere in all those trips, I got bit by the travel bug.

Nowadays I travel a lot more for work than pleasure.  But over the years, I've been to some amazing places, found delicious hole-in-the-wall restaurants and experienced some of life's simplest pleasures. So when I decided I finally needed to put all my travels on paper, I knew I needed to include a little bit of the Bajan flare in the name. The word lime, yes - it's a fruit or the material you spread on your yard, but to a Bajan it means something a little different.

lime / liming - to hang-out, chill, or relax somewhere with others.

So, here's to sharing with you all some of the great places I've been liming.
